Bit of Happy #22: Change Of Pace

13 Oct

“Everyone knows that they are going to die, but no one believes it. If we did, we would do things differently.”
-Morrie Schwartz

This quote tells us to do nothing. That’s what I love about it. So many of my favorite quotes are go-out-there-and-find-what-makes-you-happy quotes. And while those are great and inspiring, this one is at a refreshing change of pace. It makes you think. Consider where your life is now, and how things would possibly be different if you simply grasped wholeheartedly a concept that we all know to be true. It’s funny (well, maybe not funny) how we all walk around with the common knowledge that we are one day going to die, but our everyday actions do not seem to reflect that possibility.

What is the reason for this? Do we just get caught up in our busy lives? Or do we plan to live long healthy lives, so we aren’t as risky nor do we take the chances we may take if we knew death was going to catch up with us sooner than later? What is your opinion? Share your thoughts.

Also, is there anything you would do differently?
