Bit of Happy #37: Just The Way You Are

3 Nov

“Be more concerned about your character than your reputation because your character is who you are and your reputation is what others think of you.”
-John Wooden

John Wooden gives great insight into what is important in life – that you can’t always worry what people think of you or what stereotypical box they put you in. All you can do is be yourself, your true character. If they are going to pass judgement on you, especially inaccurate ones, then they aren’t really worth your time or tears. If your character is true, honest and pure, what more could someone ask for?

Let people say what they want. Think what they want. Pass what judgements they want. Don’t even blink an eye at it. Just keep your chin up and look ahead, instead of behind. You know who you are inside and don’t be afraid to show your personality. Because your great! Beautiful! And perfect just the way you are. If they can’t appreciate and cherish the real you, then what does that say about their character?

Take a moment to really think about that. Take a moment to celebrate your character and to allow your reputation to fade into the background. You deserve that peace of mind more than anything. Just let it go. Free your mind.
