Bit of Happy #48: Castles in the Air

18 Nov

“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.”
-Henry David Thoreau

Too much in life, we are grounded by reality. At least that’s how I feel. And while that can have its advantages, sometimes I believe we need to look up into the sky with starry eyes and dream. Just dream.

Imagine your aspirations. Build a vision. I love how Thoreau encourages dreaming and believes that it is not time wasted. He says,“That is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.” These very words tell us quite the opposite of what society continuously stresses. Instead of preparation and practical goals, Thoreau sheds light on the positives of day dreaming. You should be walking with your head in the clouds. And don’t be afraid of doing it. Dream. And DREAM BIG!

Once those dreams are big enough – once your castle is built, you just have to find the foundations to make it a reality. What are the steps you need to take to make your dreams come true? Anything is possible. All you need is a dream, a little faith and a lot of hard work.
