Bit of Happy #144: A Sweet Saying

16 Apr

“If you live to be one hundred, I hope I live to be one hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you.”
-Winnie the Pooh

A coworker of mine shared this quote with me not too long ago, and I thought it was too ADORABLE not to share with all of you.

And sorry for not posting on Friday and waiting until Saturday. Now that beautiful weather has hit my hometown, I’ve been absolutely miserable. It’s a very bittersweet couple of months. As much as I LOVE when the warmth of the sun begins to melt away all of the ice and snow from winter, spring also means allergies. And allergies, I don’t love. Not in the least bit. Thanks again for you patience!

I hope today’s quote warmed your heart just as it did mine. Have a GREAT rest of the weekend! Hopefully some of this rain will wash some of the pollen out of the air.

Bit of Happy #136: A World With No Passion?

5 Apr

“Without passion, you don’t have energy; without energy, you have nothing. Nothing great in the world has been accomplished without passion.”
-Donald Trump

Don’t assume from today’s quote that I’m a huge Donald Trump fan, but I must say this statement has a lot of power. Without passion, without a drive to succeed, nothing great will come out of the effort put forth. In fact, there will be no true effort because there lies an unwillingness to put any amount of substantial energy into the task at hand.

I think it is important to take a step back in life and realize what you are truly passionate about. If it’s about helping others, go out in the world and use that as your driving force to accomplish something great. If it’s about caring for animals, wake up every morning and energize yourself with how you will make that a reality. If it’s about making the world more beautiful, take that dream as your daily motivation to change what is gray and bland into something colorful and bright.

Anyone who matches passion with an undeniable energy to accomplish something great in life has the ability to make a difference. Acquire these qualities and practice them each day. Never lose sight of your dreams, and from there, all you have to do is begin with a single step.

Happy Tuesday!

Bit of Happy #135: Sea Breeze

4 Apr

“Sea Breeze”
by Tyrone Wells

“Did I really meet her, or was it just a sweet dream…
That lingers in the morning, like a melody?
Over and over, all through the day,
I can’t stop thinking about how I’m feeling this way.

She moves like sea breeze, swirling around me.
The fragrance that she leaves, hangs in the air.
Soft like a whisper, she’s calling me to her.
These eyes have seen the most beautiful dream.”

A song unlike any other, “Sea Breeze” by Tyrone Wells holds a magic that I’ve never heard before. Not only are the lyrics flawless, but his voice is wholesome and tells an enchanting story. Left wondering if it was all just a dream, he laid eyes on what seems like an angel from heaven – she moved like sea breeze and smelled sweetly. Gently, he seems to gravitate toward her without much choice, she has this way about her that cannot be explained. In surrender, he recapitulates this encounter as the most beautiful dream he’s ever had.

This explanation is nothing that anyone can’t pull from these lyrics, but I wanted to open up the song topic for conversation with all of you. So take a moment to listen to today’s Music Quote Monday, and let me know what you think!

Happy Monday!

What did you think of today’s Music Quote Monday? How do you interpret the lyrics?

Bit of Happy #126: You Owe Me!

22 Mar

“Even after all this time, the sun never said to the Earth, ‘You owe me.’ Look what happens with a love like that; it lights the whole sky.”
-Hafiz, a Persian Poet of the 1300′s

The sun has kept the Earth warm and prospering for centuries – long before we ever existed. For millions and billions of years, the sun has never asked for anything in return. The Persian poet personifies this solar relationship with an unconditional love. ‘It lights the whole sky’ – this part of today’s quote gives love such a magical feel. And truly, I believe that love really does hold that beautiful quality.

I imagine love to light your whole world. Brighten your spirits. Prevail through fear and hardships. Instill hope and well-being in your soul. I believe love can be as magical as when the sun lights the whole sky at dawn.

Bit of Happy #125: Hold My Hand

21 Mar

Hold My Hand
by Hootie and the Blowfish

It’s finally getting warmer, and with the beautiful weather will come some amazing summer songs! I’ve been holding out and trying so hard to wait for spring. And since the first day of spring was yesterday, I’m not waiting a moment longer! I love listening to this song in my car with the windows down and my hand floating in the breeze. “Hold My Hand” by Hootie and the Blowfish has a powerful message that brings people together and shows the strength in taking on the world hand in hand instead of trying to do so all alone.

“With a little love, and some tenderness,
We’ll walk upon the water.
We’ll rise above this mess.
With a little peace, and some harmony,
We’ll take the world together.
We’ll take ‘em by the hand.

‘Cause I’ve got a hand for you.
‘Cause I wanna run with you.”

Whether a cherished friendship, the love of your life, or the unbreakable bond between parent and child, “Hold My Hand” has incredibly strong lyrics that can touch the lives of many. With a little love, some tenderness, a little peace and some harmony, this song pulls us closer to our loved ones in a gentle, yet gravitating way.

I hope you listen to today’s song and find the same feeling in your heart that I have!

Happy Monday!

Bit of Happy #113: The Beautiful Dreamer

3 Mar

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt

As beautiful as new fallen snow, the future blossoms from those who believe in possibility and chance. Embrace your dreams. Build them into your destiny. What you make of your life belongs to only one person. And that ONE person is YOU!

I love today’s quote because it seems to live and breathe optimism. All you have to do is believe in yourself. Believe in your dreams, and they are ready and waiting to come true.

What are some of your dreams? What’s are some of the most important things you want to accomplish in your future?

Bit of Happy #89: The Opposite Of Life

28 Jan

“Death is not the opposite of life. It is a part of life. A part we’ve not yet explored, and it is only natural to fear what we do not understand. But with the right attitude, we can make life beautiful. With this same attitude, can death not be the same?”

It’s hard for me to find the right words to say to even begin a discussion about this quote. I don’t even know why it’s so difficult. The only reason I can put into words is that I simply can’t imagine anything more beautiful than life – it’s a whirl of experiences, growth and emotions. It’s like a wave of events that stir up a sea of different outcomes. It’s challenging, hopeful, disappointing, celebratory, sorrowful, promising. If we knew how our lives would turn out in the end, where would there be room for excitement? Opportunity? Choice? Possibility? Would we even be able to give meaning to those words?

And I know that everything I am saying right now points a million and five arrows at… what lies in the unknown in relation to death is a positive thing. But, unfortunately, I can’t say that. I struggle with the thought of one day leaving this world and all of the people I love who are in it. So much so, that I often keep my mind away from the entire concept of death. Of the unknown.

Instead, I choose to focus on the positive and living every day to its absolute fullest, in the best way I know how. So when the day comes that the inevitable happens… when the day comes that I dip into the unknown… when the day comes that I leave this world, I will, at the very least, be able to say I did everything I could. That I made every effort to make the lives of others better. That I took chances. That I made mistakes. That I escaped with no regrets. That I loved unconditionally…

Wow, I really wasn’t expecting such a heavy topic for a Friday. I feel like this is a mid-week type of post. Then again, when you are on the topic of death, what do you expect? But you know me, we can certainly turn this into a positive thing one way or another. And I bet you are wondering how in the world do I like this quote with all that I’ve said so far?! Well, SURPRISE! I do. I like this quote because it makes me think. It challenges me. Makes me incredibly uncomfortable. It pushes me out on a limb and forces me to make a choice. Or, at least, begin to work towards one… Gee, that doesn’t sound like such a great thing after all. But you know what, it is. It’ll press me to my limits. Perhaps even break me. But in the end, you know what it’ll do? It’ll make me stronger.

Will I ever be able to see death as a beautiful thing? As something positive? As a reason to find optimism? I think if I can get myself to a point where I agree that death is a part of life, and not life’s end, I believe I could possibly see it as something beautiful. Will I ever be able to adopt this type of mindset? That’s as unknown as the topic at hand…

And with all of that said.. I don’t know what else to say, because I sure said a lot, and I feel like it’s kind of a jumbled mess of words. I feel like I normally have a little more organization to my entries. I don’t even know if it’ll be comprehensible by another human being. So, good luck! But I would love to hear your thoughts on how this quote makes you feel! Perhaps you can make more sense of it than I can. Hopefully it inspires thought and question, and maybe even some comfort in the very possibility that there is beauty in one day leaving everything we know.
