Bit of Happy #106: The Moments That Take Our Breath Away

22 Feb

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

If this isn’t the cutest picture you’ve ever seen, I don’t know what is! Annie, my dachshund, actually hates being photographed, but sometimes I can catch her making the most adorable expressions!

Anyway, first I’d like to say… Happy Tuesday!

Probably one of my favorites of all time, today’s quote is one that obviously slipped between the cracks; otherwise, I would have shared it much, much sooner! Over the weekend, it popped into my mind, and I had to go back through my quotes on Little Bits of Happy to see if I had posted it yet. Surprised after finding that I hadn’t, it was the first one on my list to share for this week.

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take…” Whether you live 10 years or 100 years, the time you spend in this world doesn’t have an affect on its meaningfulness. A 10-year-old has the capability of making more of his or her life, making the lives of others better and making a significant difference than someone who may live 100 years.

“…But by the moments that take our breath away.” Measured by the cherished memories – moments that take our breath away – life may give us many days or just a few to experience them. The insignificance of the number of breaths we take certainly doesn’t mean to carelessly go through life. Instead, appreciate each moment you are given.

The moment you learn something new about yourself that you never knew before. The moment you change someone’s life for the better. The moment you share your first kiss with the person you are meant to spend the rest of your life with (even though you may not know the significance of that person at the time). The moment you find strength within yourself when you, at first, doubted that strength. The moment you commit the rest of your life to someone, and they make the same promise to you. The moment you see the birth of your first child.

It’s these moments and many alike that truly measure the quality of your life. The unforgettable ones. The ones that you find yourself replaying in your mind when you are searching for encouragement, or looking to go back to the happiest points in your life. It’s these moments that take your breath away…

Hope you loved today’s quote as much as I did, and I would love to know what you think! Click the button below to share your thoughts!

Bit of Happy #60: Unwritten

6 Dec

Happy Monday! Happy Monday! Happy Mondayyyyyy! If there could be a theme song for my blog, I think it would have to be this one! Since my senior year in high school (when I first heard it), I absolutely fell in love with the lyrics of Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Unwritten.’ So take a moment to listen to the song, and let me know what you think!

Some of my favorite lines in the song are: “Live your life with arms wide open,” and “Today is where your book begins; the rest is still unwritten.” To me, these lyrics encourage you to be open-minded; to embrace all the things life has to offer.

And not only that, but it also speaks to the fact that today is the first day of the rest of your life. That you can take a deep breath and clear your mind. That you can turn the page and have a brand new, fresh start. And the days preceding that moment… well, it’s still unknown. If you turn ahead in the pages of your life, they are still left clean. Untouched.

Sooner or later, however, your book will slowly be filled with all of your experiences as you take each breath of your life – what will one day be known as memories.

There’s still plenty more I would love to pull from this song, but I’d like to give all of you a chance! Share, Share, Share. Anything at all that comes to mind!

What’s your favorite part or line of the song?

What can you take from it and apply to your own life?

Do you see life in a light other than this song portrays? Do you believe, perhaps, that everything is predetermined? Or such thing as destiny?

Bit of Happy #40: Never Alone

8 Nov

So, I’m going to try something new on Mondays – Music Quote Mondays.

What inspired this idea? Well, the next quote in my book was a quote from a song. So, I was thinking… why only share a part of the song, when I can share the song in its entirety? Not to mention, this way I can also share the actual ‘musical’ part, not just the lyrics.

The first quote of a song that I came across in my book was this one – Never Alone by Lady Antebellum. Now, I wouldn’t go as far as saying this is my favorite song of all time, but it would be the song – that when I am to die – I would want to leave behind to all of my loved ones. That sounds kind of heavy, but it isn’t really meant to. I just fell in love with the lyrics. Fell in love with the way this song speaks to those who are left behind after a loved one dies. Fell in love with the comfort and strength I felt when hearing this song – the exact comfort and strength I would want to pass on to those who mean the most to me.

And although I hope not today, not tomorrow and not any time near this moment is the day I die, I always keep in mind that in life, you never truly know what day will be your last. This realization is probably the main influence on why I live my life the way I do. As full as I can. With as much love as I can. Without taking one moment for granted. And above all things, as I travel through life, I hope to bring only positivity to the lives I touch along. I always say, if even just one life breathes easier because I am alive, then my life was worth living, a million, ba-zillion times over.

So, I hope you enjoy the song! May it embrace you with the same hope I felt. Oh, and just a warning – I’m not an expert at Garage Band. Originally, I just wanted to share the MP3 but realized I couldn’t with the WordPress version I have. The only way I could share it with you was by making it a YouTube video, so pardon the lack of skill!

One of my favorite parts of the song: “Well, I have to be honest as much as I want it, I’m not gonna promise that the cold winds won’t blow. So, when hard times have found you, and your fears surround you, wrap my love around you. You’re never alone.” The exposed truth within these lyrics is undeniable. Life isn’t easy, and no one can promise or protect others from the hardships that life comes with – no matter how much they may want to. The only thing you can remind those who mean the most to you is that they will never be alone; they will always have you.

Do you like the idea of Music Quote Monday?

What part of the song is your favorite? Why?

What song would you want to leave to your loved ones?

If you want to submit your own song quote, do it the same way as submitting a regular quote! Just be sure to attach the MP3 to the email. Start on the Submit A Quote page and follow the directions from there.

Happy Monday! Hope everyone has an amazing week.
