Bit of Happy #122: Falling In Love Is Easy

16 Mar

“Falling in love is easy, but staying in love is something very special.”
-Anon

As breath taking as falling in love is, Anon brings great insight into what is truly special – and that’s falling in love all over again each day you spend with that person. It’s waking up at 97-years-old and melting inside the moment the love of your life’s eyes meet yours. It’s leaning in to kiss one another and never losing that flutter in your heart. Falling in love is an incredibly special thing, yes, but staying in love until the day you die is a true rarity.

What do you think of today’s quote? Do you believe that love grows exponentially more special over time?

Bit of Happy #106: The Moments That Take Our Breath Away

22 Feb

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
-Anonymous

If this isn’t the cutest picture you’ve ever seen, I don’t know what is! Annie, my dachshund, actually hates being photographed, but sometimes I can catch her making the most adorable expressions!

Anyway, first I’d like to say… Happy Tuesday!

Probably one of my favorites of all time, today’s quote is one that obviously slipped between the cracks; otherwise, I would have shared it much, much sooner! Over the weekend, it popped into my mind, and I had to go back through my quotes on Little Bits of Happy to see if I had posted it yet. Surprised after finding that I hadn’t, it was the first one on my list to share for this week.

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take…” Whether you live 10 years or 100 years, the time you spend in this world doesn’t have an affect on its meaningfulness. A 10-year-old has the capability of making more of his or her life, making the lives of others better and making a significant difference than someone who may live 100 years.

“…But by the moments that take our breath away.” Measured by the cherished memories – moments that take our breath away – life may give us many days or just a few to experience them. The insignificance of the number of breaths we take certainly doesn’t mean to carelessly go through life. Instead, appreciate each moment you are given.

The moment you learn something new about yourself that you never knew before. The moment you change someone’s life for the better. The moment you share your first kiss with the person you are meant to spend the rest of your life with (even though you may not know the significance of that person at the time). The moment you find strength within yourself when you, at first, doubted that strength. The moment you commit the rest of your life to someone, and they make the same promise to you. The moment you see the birth of your first child.

It’s these moments and many alike that truly measure the quality of your life. The unforgettable ones. The ones that you find yourself replaying in your mind when you are searching for encouragement, or looking to go back to the happiest points in your life. It’s these moments that take your breath away…

Hope you loved today’s quote as much as I did, and I would love to know what you think! Click the button below to share your thoughts!

Bit of Happy #2: Put One Foot in Front of the Other

15 Sep

The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.
-Loa Tzu

Life is a journey of a thousand miles (and probably many, many more); broken down into smaller pieces, your life has moments that can be overwhelming.

Sometimes it helps (me, at least) not to look at the big picture, despite what everyone tells you. Sometimes it’s easier to take one day at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time and sometimes, even one moment at a time. Confronting the unknown and staring it straight in the face isn’t always easy, and I’ll be the first to admit that. But focusing on the first step, instead of the millions you need to take to reach your goal, sometimes makes the walk along the way a little easier…

Is there someone you’ve had a crush on since kindergarten? A dream job that you would love to acquire? A family member or friend you wish you were closer with? Or maybe… it could be something as simple (but hard at the same time) as: Going in for that first kiss. Getting an A on a test. Living a healthier lifestyle. Getting a blog started. *Hint Hint*

The point of this is not to point out your every insecurity. But instead, to recognize them and take steps toward achieving them. So, I’m asking you to do this…

Take that leap of faith – start your journey – even if it is as simple as stepping out of your front door. You just have to muster enough confidence to take that first step. Worry about the next step when the time comes.

So, get in touch with your crush. Give your friend or family member a call and make plans. Apply for that dream job. Spend time with the ones you love. Go in for that first kiss. Buy some more fresh fruits and vegetables. Start a blog with your first entry.

Just go for it! Be proactive. That’s what life is all about. Waiting around for life to happen is the way to make nothing happen in your life. Does that make sense?

I can promise you one thing – one of the worst things in life is regret. Avoid the ‘What if’s, ‘Could have’s, ‘Should have’s, ‘Would have’s… You catch my drift.

What’s the worst that could happen? To me, missing out on what could have / should have / would have been if you had just done _________ – that’s the worst thing that could happen. Hopefully you never have to fill in that sentence, but…

…the best part – it’s never too late!

I’ve wanted to start a blog for years now. I just didn’t know what inspired me enough to write about every day. Well, I think I found that. And to bring hope and happiness to others through my writing is the best part!

So, hopefully this inspires you to put on your walking shoes. Remember, the first step can be the hardest.

Does this quote have a different meaning to you?

Do you have an experience of where you took that leap of faith? Or maybe when you wish you had?
