Bit of Happy #140: Take Me There

11 Apr

“Take Me There”
by Rascal Flatts

“There’s a place in your heart where nobody’s been.
Take me there.”

This song stole my heart in the first two lines. I don’t think there are enough words in the world to describe how this song touched me. “Take Me There” by Rascal Flatts is, without a doubt, a love song but even then, it seems to reach deeper than that.

It’s not just any love – it’s a love where nobody previously has been before. It is a love that will go deeper than ever before. Grow stronger than ever before. Reach further to the depths of your soul, of your heart, than ever before.

And to make a statement to someone like the very first two lines of this song shows commitment. Shows willingness. Shows the passion to know their love inside out, better than anyone else in this world. And to me, that’s saying something. A lot actually.

A few more lines of the song follow, along with the video (which is pretty cute by the way). Take a moment to read and listen/watch, and if you like the song as much as I do, click the link below to hop on a fast track to buying the song and making it your very own!

“I wanna know, everything about you.
And I wanna go, down every road you’ve been.
Where your hopes and dreams and wishes live,
Where you keep the rest of your life hid.
I wanna know the girl behind that pretty stare.
Take me there.

Your first real kiss, your first true love, you were scared.
Show me where.
You learned about life, spent your summer nights, without a care.
Take me there.
I wanna roll down Mainstreet and back roads like you did when you were a kid.
What makes you who you are, tell me what your story is.

Bit of Happy #135: Sea Breeze

4 Apr

“Sea Breeze”
by Tyrone Wells

“Did I really meet her, or was it just a sweet dream…
That lingers in the morning, like a melody?
Over and over, all through the day,
I can’t stop thinking about how I’m feeling this way.

She moves like sea breeze, swirling around me.
The fragrance that she leaves, hangs in the air.
Soft like a whisper, she’s calling me to her.
These eyes have seen the most beautiful dream.”

A song unlike any other, “Sea Breeze” by Tyrone Wells holds a magic that I’ve never heard before. Not only are the lyrics flawless, but his voice is wholesome and tells an enchanting story. Left wondering if it was all just a dream, he laid eyes on what seems like an angel from heaven – she moved like sea breeze and smelled sweetly. Gently, he seems to gravitate toward her without much choice, she has this way about her that cannot be explained. In surrender, he recapitulates this encounter as the most beautiful dream he’s ever had.

This explanation is nothing that anyone can’t pull from these lyrics, but I wanted to open up the song topic for conversation with all of you. So take a moment to listen to today’s Music Quote Monday, and let me know what you think!

Happy Monday!

Bit of Happy #130: Smile

28 Mar

“Smile”
by Uncle Kracker

“You’re better then the best.
I’m lucky just to linger in your light.
Cooler than the flip side of my pillow, that’s right.”

Smile” by Uncle Kracker is an unforgettable song for its incredible lyrics. It’s pretty amazing when you’ve found that special person in your life whom you admire. Whether a lover, friend, parent, child, that person means the world to you. You feel lucky just to be in their presence. You become a better person simply because they exist. And with that comes happiness. And with happiness comes…

“You make me smile like the sun,
Fall out of bed,
Sing like a bird,
Dizzy in my head.
Spin like a record,
Crazy on a Sunday night.

You make me dance like a fool,
Forget how to breathe,
Shine like gold,
Buzz like a bee.
Just the thought of you can drive me wild,
Oh, you make me smile.”

...a smile. I love the randomness of these lyrics; yet like a jigsaw puzzle, they all have their perfect place. I believe the words come together and describe what it’s like to be in love. Though, in my opinion, the refrain tends to sound more like a deep infatuation for the other, the rest of lyrics are what tie a ribbon around the package and make it whole. Check out these remaining two pieces of verses to see what I mean:

“Even when you’re gone,
Somehow you come along,
Just like a flower poking through the sidewalk crack.”

“Don’t know how I lived without you,
‘Cuz every time that I get around you,
I see the best of me inside your eyes
You make me smile.”

It’s amazing to realize even when that special person isn’t near you, you can still feel them all around you. Everything you look at, touch, or come in contact with reminds you of them in some way or another. Even when you face a difficult obstacle, they “come along, just like a flower poking through the sidewalk crack.” They give you the courage, strength and hope that you need to make it through anything. They make you feel like the best person you can be. They make you smile. And that is something I consider extremely lucky to have. Something that deserves to be cherished and celebrated each and every day of your life. Even in the smallest of ways – a little note, a kiss, a ‘how was your day’ – it’s important to show gratefulness, and even more so… to put that smile right back on their face, just as they have done for you.

I hope you like today’s song as much as I do! When I here the intro start on the radio as I’m driving to work, it immediately brings a smile to my face. And I can only hope it’ll do the same for you. So have a listen, and let me know what you think!

Bit of Happy #125: Hold My Hand

21 Mar

Hold My Hand
by Hootie and the Blowfish

It’s finally getting warmer, and with the beautiful weather will come some amazing summer songs! I’ve been holding out and trying so hard to wait for spring. And since the first day of spring was yesterday, I’m not waiting a moment longer! I love listening to this song in my car with the windows down and my hand floating in the breeze. “Hold My Hand” by Hootie and the Blowfish has a powerful message that brings people together and shows the strength in taking on the world hand in hand instead of trying to do so all alone.

“With a little love, and some tenderness,
We’ll walk upon the water.
We’ll rise above this mess.
With a little peace, and some harmony,
We’ll take the world together.
We’ll take ‘em by the hand.

‘Cause I’ve got a hand for you.
‘Cause I wanna run with you.”

Whether a cherished friendship, the love of your life, or the unbreakable bond between parent and child, “Hold My Hand” has incredibly strong lyrics that can touch the lives of many. With a little love, some tenderness, a little peace and some harmony, this song pulls us closer to our loved ones in a gentle, yet gravitating way.

I hope you listen to today’s song and find the same feeling in your heart that I have!

Happy Monday!

Bit of Happy #115: Never Let You Down

7 Mar

This is the song I love to listen to when the weather starts getting warmer. When the snow begins to melt and the golden sun colors the fields and trees with new growth. “Never Let You Down” by The Verve Pipe is one I’ve listened to for a long time now. It’s inspiring and new. Exciting and comforting.

So take a moment to listen to the song and tell me what you think!

“Never Let You Down”
by The Verve Pipe

“I’m trying to keep my feet on the ground.
I’m getting to like this feeling I’ve found.
I’m getting to love
The thought of having you around,
And I will never let you down.”

The budding of a new love explained through these words is quite perfect. It describes that special feeling. The feeling so light that you wouldn’t be surprised if you were walking on air. The belief that you could begin getting used to that kind of happiness. And ultimately, the commitment to the other person that you’ll never let them down…

I hope you like today’s song as much as I do! Share your thoughts!!!

Bit of Happy #110: Live Like We’re Dying

28 Feb

“Live Like We’re Dying”
by Kris Allen

Why I haven’t shared this song sooner with Little Bits of Happy, I can’t quite explain. But it’s here now! “Live Like We’re Dying,” by Kris Allen has countless phrases within the song that I find myself hanging on to. The realities of life are so apparent and lucid in these lyrics – through the proposed questions and the secrets to walking a meaningful, enlightened path.

“So if your life flashed before you,
What would you wish you would’ve done?”

“And if your plane fell out of the skies,
Who would you call with your last goodbye?”

Embedded in the lyrics are questions. Questions that may be difficult to answer; others that may be as plain as day. But I love how this song makes you think. Makes you question. Makes you evaluate your life, and helps you realize the truly important things. The things you need to set as your top priority.

“Sometimes we fall down, can’t get back up.
We’re hiding behind skin that’s too tough.
How come we don’t say I love you enough?
Till it’s too late, it’s not too late.”

Life can be challenging – even bend you until you break. And out from these difficult experiences, we put on a thick skin to keep this vulnerability from happening again. We build these walls around ourselves so nothing can get in. Nothing bad, but nothing good either.

Is that really the answer here? Should we hide from life because it might end up breaking us? Should we not risk being happy because it may hurt us so much more in the end?

“We only got 86,400 seconds in a day…” to either change what we’ve got and make it better or waste that time doing nothing. We have the opportunity to change our lives, the lives of others.. the world. “Till it’s too late, it’s not too late.” Until we take our very last breath, the world is in our hands. It’s up to us whether we lift it up or break it down.

What will you do with your seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years… time?

Bit of Happy #105: A Little Bit Stronger

21 Feb

“A Little Bit Stronger”
by Sara Evans

“And I’m done hoping that we could work it out
I’m done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around
And, oh, I’m done thinking that you could ever change

I know my heart will never be the same
But I’m telling myself I’ll be okay
Even on my weakest days,
I get a little bit stronger
.”

My past has presented the possibility for me to, fortunate or not, strongly relate to each lyric of this song. And on some level, I think everyone who has risked their heart for love and then was let down has. Certainly not the easiest moments of life, “A Little Bit Stronger,” by Sara Evans describes the aftermath of a breakup. From hearing songs on the radio to having to force a smile and ignore the hurt, the lyrics bleed the truth. They are real and honest. How do I know this? Because I’ve been through these lyrics, word for word.

And I’m not saying it’s a walk in the park. Because it’s not; it is far from it actually. But what I am saying is this… There are really, really, REALLY difficult times in life. Times that you believe you’ll never make it through in one piece. But when you surprise yourself and do find that strength to put the pieces back together… The moment when you turn around and a month has gone by without crying, you smile to yourself a little bit. You get ‘a little bit stronger.’

The moment you realize you need to put your foot down and stop letting him (or her) drag your heart around, you get ‘a little bit stronger.’

Once you accept that your heart may never be the same, but you’ll still be okay… you get ‘a little bit stronger.’

I especially love the lyrics: “Even on my weakest days, I get a little bit stronger.” Each day you make it through, it’s a little bit step towards finding who you are again. It’s a little step towards living life without that person. It’s a little step towards leaving the hurt behind. Each day you get further away from the initial day of breaking up, you realize you can make it in this life without them.

And even when you don’t realize that… even when you still believe that he (or she) will change… even when you still hope that he (or she) will come running back into your arms… Even on those days, you ‘get a little bit stronger.’ You get a little bit stronger because even in moments of weakness, it is still time that passes. And with time comes healing.

In my weakest days, I never thought I would move on. In many ways, I was determined to do the opposite. I wanted to hold on for the rest of my life. But looking back on it now… going many, many days without a tear. Going many, many days without wishing he’d come back. Going many, many days without allowing him to drag my heart around. I’ve realized I’m stronger. A lot stronger. And better off.

Looking back on it now, having found someone new… someone who has showed me how I deserve to be treated… someone who smiles just to see me smile, I wouldn’t change a single moment of my past. I wouldn’t change the hurt that I’ve had to endure. I wouldn’t change the choices I’ve made or the moments I’ve shared with people. If I wished for that, I wouldn’t be me. I wouldn’t be able to appreciate and truly cherish what I have now. So instead of regretting the past, I celebrate it. Because without my past, I wouldn’t in the very moment that I am now.

So have a listen, I hope you get the same sense of strength from “A Little Bit Stronger” that I have!

Happy Monday!
