Bit of Happy #114: It’s All About The Money

4 Mar

“Life is like a coin. You can spend it any way you wish, but you only spend it once.”
-Lillian Dickson

JUST KIDDINGGGGG!

Normally, I wouldn’t like the value of life being compared to money, but when it comes to today’s quote, I think it’s quite brilliant. Like looking through a piece of glass, the truth lies crystal clear on the other side. And the reality of it is that you can spend this life any way you’d like. You can be whatever you want to be. Do whatever you want to do. But… yes, there is a but…

You can only spend it once. You’ve only got one shot to make it happen. Once chance to make this journey worthwhile. And just like money, once it’s gone, there’s no going back. This is the very reason that so many of Little Bits of Happy quotes are pushing me, and now you, to strive for your dreams. When the going gets tough, keep going. When it seems like the sun will never rise on tomorrow… have a little faith.

Life is so precious, much more so than money will ever be, but when it comes to today’s analogy, it couldn’t be any more true.

Happy Friday!!!

Bit of Happy #92: Your Eyes Tell All

2 Feb

“Our eyes are placed in front because it is more important to look ahead than to look behind.”
-Anonymous

What a perfect quote for a perfect Wednesday! This has been one of my absolute favorites for a long time. As a constant reminder to look ahead to the future, what better way than the placement of your eyes?!

Created to move forward in life, we strive to achieve great things. Everything around us is in similar progression. Nothing in life can ever move backwards. Nothing can ever retreat. Even on a battle field, there’s still a progression of time and effort – whether or not the opposing side is forcing you to physically regress.

It’s the same thing with someone’s mind. You can choose to live in your past. You can choose to build walls around your heart in protection. You can choose to allow no one in. You can choose to take no risk, no chance. But you can’t choose that the future is happening all around you. Constantly. Each second that you spend guarded is a second lost to your past.

But with if instead, you choose to allow the past to live as a memory, as a lesson? What if you choose to live in the present? What if you choose to look ahead into the future? What if you choose to focus on the positive? There are a lot of moments in life that will test your strength. Your ability to trust again after being hurt. Your determination to see the good in every situation. Your willingness to help and love others unconditionally.

Take note to the placement of your eyes. I’m not necessarily sure I believe in fate or that there is a reason for everything that happens; however, I find an incredible amount of comfort in the possibility. So with that said, this quote gives a bright outlook on life. One in which gives us reason to look forward. To find excitement in possibility. To take an optimistic approach as we walk through each and every day. And in my opinion, if a quote can do that… It’s a quote worth keeping.

Happy Wednesday!

Bit of Happy #52: Improve and Progress

24 Nov

“Let us strive to improve ourselves, for we cannot remain stationary; one either progresses or retrogrades.”
-Mme. Du Deffand

Improvement. Growth. Progression.

Deterioration. Diminish. Retrogression.

Which set of words do you perceive more valuable? More desirable to attain? I think it goes without saying which will lead to a more meaningful life. And with this thought in the forefront, what will be your next move?

I try to reflect. And reflect often. On my everyday actions. On the way I treat loved ones. On how I approach those who may be difficult to get along with. And by reflecting, what does one gain?

Well, I believe one can improve him or herself. By striving to improve on certain actions, habits and perhaps, your overall character, you progress. You move forward. You learn. You grow. It is impossible to remain stationary in life. Either you move forward or you move back. Either you progress or you regress. And maybe improve isn’t even the right word. But I believe that if we strive to be the best we can be, inside and out, we will become a better person. We shine positivity onto to others. We live out the life we desire.

I came across this quote a few days ago and fell in love with the truth invested in the words. I think we can all take something from it, and at the very least, consider reflecting on what we ultimately want out of life and what we need to work on to achieve that.
